/ THE RULES

Terms & privacy

Plain language, because there's one person behind this and you should be able to read all of it. Last updated 24 October 2026.

The short version

  • You buy hosting time in bitcoin, by the day or week. Time counts down from when your server is set up, running or stopped, and pauses only when it's down because of a problem on my side.
  • When your time runs out the server stops. You have 7 days to top up and carry on exactly where you were, and 30 days before it's deleted for good. A server that has had less than a week paid in total gets 1 day and 7 days instead, and one with less than 3 days paid in total is deleted 1 hour after its time runs out.
  • Sent sats are spent sats: time isn't refunded, used or not, and deleting a server early loses what's left. If I'm the reason your service ends, you get the unused time back in bitcoin.
  • Your worlds are yours. You can download them whenever you like.
  • I keep as little about you as I can: no name, no account and no tracking.

Paying

  • Prices are in sats and shown before you pay. The price on your invoice is the price for that time, even if prices change later.
  • You can buy between 1 and 84 days at a time, and anyone can add more time to any server.
  • Your balance starts running down when your server's game first comes up, and from then on runs whether you have it running or stopped. Installing and waiting for room on a machine aren't charged, and neither is time it's down because of my hardware or network.
  • Bitcoin payments can't be reversed. Whatever confirms on an invoice becomes time, even if it's more or less than the invoice asked, or arrives up to 7 days after the invoice expires. A new server is set up once at least one day's worth has arrived. For a payment later than that, email me the invoice.
  • Resizing a server changes how fast your balance runs down from that moment. Time you've already used isn't recalculated.

When your time runs out

  • Straight away: the server stops. Its memory and processor stay reserved for you, so a top-up starts it again at once.
  • After 7 days: the reservation is released for other customers. Your files stay. A top-up brings the server back if a machine has room, and the top-up page tells you before you pay if there isn't any.
  • After 30 days: the server, its files and its backups are deleted permanently. I can't get them back after that.
  • A server that has had less than a week paid in total (all its payments added up): the reservation is released after 1 day instead of 7, and the server is deleted after 7 days instead of 30.
  • A server that has had less than 3 days paid in total (a day or two to try it out): it's deleted, files and backups included, 1 hour after its time runs out. Top up within that hour to keep it.
  • I don't send reminders. Your balance and time left are always on Your servers.

Refunds

Sent sats are spent sats. Bitcoin payments can't be reversed, and what you send becomes time on a server. The only times I send bitcoin back are the two below: if I end your service, or if a payment arrives for a server that's already gone.

  • Time you've used isn't refunded.
  • Unused balance isn't refunded. If you want to stop, let the time run out. You can also delete a server early from Your servers, but the time left on it is lost.
  • If I end your service for a reason that isn't your fault, for example I shut LoomNode down or a machine fails and can't be replaced, I'll refund your unused balance in bitcoin to an address you give me.
  • If I suspend or delete a server for breaking the rules below, its unused balance is not refunded.
  • If a payment arrives for a server that has already been deleted (for example an invoice paid just as its server was deleted), I'll send it back in bitcoin to an address you give me. Ask at support@loomnode.cloud.

Your server and your files

  • Worlds, saves and configs you put on or create on your server are yours. You can download them at any time through the game panel's file manager or SFTP.
  • Every server includes storage, which holds its files and its backups together: 15 GB for a Minecraft server, 10 GB for a Valheim server and 15 GB for a Don't Starve Together server. The order page shows each game's size, and a server keeps the size it was ordered with. If you need more, ask.
  • Each server is backed up every night and keeps the last 2 backups that fit in its storage beside its files, so a server with more files keeps fewer. Backups are restored in the game panel; they can't be downloaded, so keep your own copy of your world over SFTP if you want one. If its files grow past the room its backups need, no new backups are made, and the ones it has are kept for 7 days; after that the oldest are deleted to make room, except any you've locked in the game panel. Backups are stored on a separate machine from the one running your server. They're a safety net, not a guarantee, so keep your own copy of anything you can't lose.
  • By ordering a game that has its own licence (Minecraft's EULA, for example), you agree to that licence. The order page asks you to tick it.

Who controls a server

  • What you sign in with when you order a server, a passkey or a bitcoin wallet, is its owner. Only that can manage it, though anyone can add time. Where these terms say wallet, a passkey counts the same.
  • The owner can hand a server to another wallet with a transfer link. Anyone the old owner added to the server in the game panel loses access when it moves.
  • If you add a recovery email to your wallet and confirm it from the link we send, you can use it to move all that wallet's servers to a new wallet if you lose it. Recovery waits 72 hours, and a sign-in from your old wallet during that time cancels it.
  • Without your wallet or a recovery email, I won't hand a server to anyone.

What you can't do

These are game servers. Use them for games, the mods and plugins that go with them, and the tools you run them with. Don't use them for:

  • anything illegal where you or I are, including content that exploits children, which I report;
  • attacking, scanning or flooding other machines or networks, including the machines your server shares;
  • mining cryptocurrency, sending email or spam, or hosting malware, phishing or proxies for other people's traffic;
  • getting around the limits of your plan, or getting into other customers' servers;
  • ordering servers mainly to take up a machine's room so other people can't get one.

If a server breaks these rules I can stop it straight away. I'll tell you why when I can. For serious or repeated cases I'll delete it without a refund.

Uptime

  • LoomNode runs on machines I own, in one place, run by one person. I don't promise a fixed uptime.
  • I'll do maintenance at quiet times where I can and announce it in advance when I know: on the status page, and with a short notice in your server's game chat 30 and 5 minutes before.
  • Your time doesn't count down while your server is down because of my hardware or network.
  • If one of my machines or my connection is down for more than 5 minutes, every server running on it gets an extra hour, added automatically. For maintenance I've announced in advance, your time pauses too and you get back at least an hour in all: the whole time it was down, or an hour if it was shorter. If your server alone had a problem you think was mine, ask.

Privacy

What I keep:

  • The public key of the passkey or wallet you sign in with. This is what owns your server. A passkey's public key is also given to the game panel, so the same passkey signs you in there.
  • Your servers: their names, games, sizes, balances, and when you agreed to a game's licence.
  • Payment records: invoice amounts and times. Payments are over Lightning, which doesn't put them on the public blockchain.
  • Your recovery email, only if you give one. It belongs to your wallet, not to a server. It's used only for recovering your servers, never for marketing, and it's removed when you remove it.
  • Your login for the game panel, which is tied to your wallet. Its password is stored only as a hash.
  • For a Don't Starve Together server, the Klei server token you give, kept with its settings and files so the game can run, and deleted with the server (my system backups, below, keep it up to 12 months like the rest of your account).
  • Ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses, kept for 14 days for security and fixing problems.

What I don't do: no analytics, no ad trackers, no selling or sharing your data. On this site, the only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in, and it lasts 7 days. The game panel sets its own cookies to keep you signed in there.

Who else is involved: Cloudflare handles DNS for loomnode.cloud. Lightning payments reach me through ACINQ, the company that runs my payment channel. They can see payment amounts and times, but not who you are. Emails I send you (confirming a recovery email, recovery links) go through Resend, which sees the address and the message. I share data with nobody else unless the law makes me.

On your own server: games log the names and IP addresses of players who join. Those logs are on your server and you control them.

Deleting: when a server is deleted, its files and backups go with it; the last copies leave my system backups within 3 days. Your recovery email stays on your wallet until you remove it. Payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires. My own system backups, which can include your account and payment records, are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted. To delete a server early, sign in as its owner and delete it from Your servers. The balance left on it is lost.

The free public servers

  • Anyone can join the free public servers, with no account. They're anarchy servers: no rules and no moderation. What players say and build there is theirs, not mine, so they're best for 18 and over.
  • A public world is wiped whenever it gets out of hand, without notice, and nothing is restored for players.
  • To report something illegal on one, email support@loomnode.cloud. I'll remove it or wipe the world, and keep a copy only as long as the law requires.
  • Their logs, which include players' names and IP addresses, are kept for 14 days and then deleted.
  • I can close a public server, or keep someone off it, at any time.
